Join Our Guest Lecture on ‘Learning in the Age of AI: Why Educational Neuroscience Matters More Than Ever’

As AI transforms education, why does understanding the science of learning matter more than ever?

Join this online guest lecture, ‘Learning in the Age of AI: Why Educational Neuroscience Matters More Than Ever’, on Friday, 29 May 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm (Jakarta time). The session draws on over sixteen years of research at The University of Sydney, exploring how educational neuroscience and the science of learning and development can inform more meaningful and human-centred education.

The lecture will examine how advances in neuroscience, complex, dynamic systems and AI are challenging long-standing ideas in education. It will highlight the importance of grounding teaching practices in rigorous, evidence-based science, while recognising students as social, emotional and neurobiological individuals. The session also emphasises that effective learning is not just about what works, but what truly matters for student wellbeing and development.

The session will be delivered by Associate Professor Minkang Kim from The University of Sydney and Dr Derek Sankey. A/Prof. Kim specialises in educational neuroscience and human development, focusing on how emotion, empathy and values shape learning. Dr Sankey brings 40 years of academic teaching and research experience, with a strong focus on bridging theory and practice in understanding how students learn, and why they may not learn.

Indonesian graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions are especially encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via this link by Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Due to limited places, early registration is recommended. Attendees will receive an e-certificate of participation.
