Are you interested in gaining insight into how universities address gender inequalities and enhance education and opportunities for women, especially in the field of STEMM? Join our online lecture titled "Reframing the Conversation on Gender Equality in Higher Education and Research" on Friday, 28 July 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Jakarta time. Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Professor Cobie Rudd from Edith Cowan University, will share valuable perspectives during this lecture.
Professor Rudd has spent many years actively addressing gender inequalities in the workplace. Through her role as the lead of Athena Swan, ECU's international institutional gender equality accreditation, she works to break down barriers and remove obstacles to allow women and girls to reach their potential.
As an educational institution and employer, ECU takes proactive steps to address gender disparities and enhance educational and professional prospects for women, focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) fields, where the imbalances are most pronounced. Achieving gender equality within institutions necessitates a deep-seated organisational and cultural shift. The documented economic benefits of diversity and inclusion within the Australian workforce affirm that fostering diversity leads to enhanced efficiency, productivity, innovation, and creativity throughout the nation.
A comprehensive review and evaluation of institutional gender equality indicators is one crucial activity that allows leaders to monitor progress, realise emerging trends and discover any issues within their institution. Embedding tracking and monitoring tools into everyday processes and practices, as ECU has done, allows institutions to effectively track their progress in working towards gender equality.
Graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions from Indonesia interested in attending this lecture, RSVP by Tuesday, 25 July, to this link. Click here for more information about the online lecture and Professor Cobie Rudd.
