Ikuti Kuliah Tamu Kami dengan Tema ‘Persiapan Menyusui Pertama Kali: Ilmu dan Praktik Pemompaan Kolostrum Antepartum’

How can the first milk a mother produces help give newborns a healthy start, and what can research tell us about expressing it before birth?

Join our online guest lecture, ‘Preparing for the First Feed: The Science and Practice of Antenatal Colostrum Expression’, presented by Associate Professor Therese O’Sullivan, Discipline Lead of Nutrition and Dietetics at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia, on Friday, 6 November 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Jakarta time).

Colostrum, the first type of breastmilk produced by mothers, contains important immunological and developmental factors that support newborns. As interest in antenatal colostrum expression (ACE) grows, emerging evidence suggests that it may offer an alternative to formula supplementation in hospital settings.

In this guest lecture, Associate Professor O’Sullivan will explore the benefits of colostrum, including its role in immune protection, gut development, and coordination of newborn feeding. She will also discuss the process, safety and timing of ACE; its clinical implications, and current evidence gaps and future research directions. The session will consider how ACE may help reduce early formula use and support maternal confidence, alongside the practical challenges and potential psychosocial impacts involved.

Indonesian graduates and scholars of Australian tertiary institutions are especially encouraged to attend. Please RSVP via this link by Wednesday, 4 November 2026. Due to limited places, early registration is recommended. A link to join the online event will be shared after registration.
