Project Location: Nationwide

Activity Type: Knowledge and technology transfer

Sector: Training, workshop or seminar

Project Rationale:

People with disabilities in Indonesia have experienced the effects of  COVID-19 such as losing their jobs, businesses, and difficulties adapting to the new normal. In fact, the majority of this population (86%) work in the informal sector. Based on a survey on the middle of 2020, 60% of disabled people were facing economic difficulties, and 50 - 80% had experienced a dramatic decrease in income. Particularly for blind people, who mostly work as masseuses or musicians, they have no jobs and rely on donations to meet their daily needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. To recover, they need a solution to increase their income once again.

Project Beneficiaries:

50 people with visual impairment and their assistants (maximum of 1 assistant per participant)

Priority Development Area:

Human development for a productive and healthy society
