The scholarships prioritise Indonesians seeking to undertake studies in key areas, including those that contribute to equitable and sustainable economic transformation, climate-resilient communities and strong institutions in Indonesia.

Applicants are assessed on their professional qualities, soft skills, academic competence, and, most importantly, their potential to contribute to Indonesia's development challenges upon their return.

Australia Awards Scholarships actively promote gender equality and encourage applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds to apply.

The Scholarships also provide dedicated support for the Equity Target Groups, as part of efforts to expand access to higher education and reflect the development priorities of Indonesia and Australia. The groups include people with disability, women from disadvantaged backgrounds and individuals from equity target provinces.
