Project Location: Pamekasan, Jawa Timur

Project Rationale:
This project will be loosely-positioned as a continuation phase from 'the previous program', as this project will be focused on 8 designers/batik makers that were screened from 200 participants in previous batik design training from 2017. The batik industry in Pamekasan is (still) generally constrained by two classic factors that is the lack of exploration in pattern design and fashion consideration, and also in a way of marketing/selling the product, where both are still carried out in much conventional way.
With the implementation of this project, it is expected to provide for these selected local designers, an environment for exploring possibilities in design and marketing experimentation, also related to the objective of implementation the results of 2018 Australia Awards Program (International Business Readiness in Fashion & Textile Sector).
Project Beneficiaries:
8 batik designers and their teams (at least four people for each designer that is a pattern makers, two hot-wax drawers and dye masters)
Priority Development Area:
Economic institutions and infrastructure
