Universities, Pedagogies, and the Future of Life and Work

How should we approach learning and teaching to maximise students’ lifelong success in a changing and complex world? What are the implications of this for educators, and more broadly, for how universities behave and operate?
Join Swinburne University of Technology for the first lecture in a series from its Education, Experience & Employability portfolio highlighting a range of relevant research and thought leadership, on 27 August 2021 at 10:00 AM AEST.
This presentation commences by asking what it will take for learners to be truly confident in their capabilities for the future, in the context of ongoing social, economic, and technological disruption.
The speaker Ruth Bridgstock will share research into the capability profiles of successful innovators, the professional learning strategies of digital media professionals, and the social networks of recent university graduates to explore pedagogical approaches that support student future-readiness.
She will also review some of the key challenges we face in bridging the divide between legacy education and the next generation of learning and teaching, drawing upon data from published university curricula and interviews with faculty members.
