Recorded Webinar: Strategy and Outlook – Economy and Welfare by The Fiscal Policy Agency

During the webinar of “Strategy & Outlook – Economy and Welfare by The Fiscal Policy Agency”, Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) of the Ministry of Finance, OzAlum Dr Febrio Kacaribu said that the world, including Indonesia, has to get ready for a new habit of living with COVID-19, which is expected to become endemic. Hence a different response is needed to deal with new uncertainties. Based on a Nature Magazine survey in 2021, Febrio said 89 percent of scientists thought SARS-CoV-2, or the virus that causes COVID-19, would become endemic.
Approaching 2022, one of the things the government does to prepare for endemic cohabitation, said Febrio, are allocating of state expenditure that focuses on protecting the public in the health and social sectors.
According to Febrio, this is reflected in the allocation of state expenditure in the 2022 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN) of Rp2,708.7 trillion, which is directed at handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
