School of Education Seminar Series: To Trace or Not to Trace – Human Movement and its Implications for Human Cognitive Architecture

Did you know that the use of gestures and tactile body movements can enhance learning in a variety of domains? While many of the studies related use paper-based materials, this seminar that will be held on 20 October 2021 at 12.45 PM AEDT, will describe a study that used tablet-based learning materials in the learning of geometry in schools.
A discussion of novel methods, along with findings from the study will be presented – as well as an overview of implications for how we think about physical engagement in the classroom as well as implications for conceptions of working and long-term memory.
