Strain Identification of Veterinary Pathogens

Join Professor Amir Hadjinoormohammadi, who will lead the discussion about strain identification of veterinary pathogens and the wide range of implications for local and global animal industries, on Tuesday, 9 November 2021 at 12.00 PM. These include insights into the epidemiology of infectious diseases, and the characterisation of live vaccines before introduction into a country.

Many techniques have been developed and used for strain identification of veterinary pathogens in various laboratories including the University of Melbourne’s laboratories. In the last five years, research in the Veterinary Science group has focused on the use of whole genome sequencing as a rapid tool for the accurate characterisation of veterinary pathogens in clinical specimens.

The Dean’s Research Seminars showcase the breadth and importance of their research in food, agriculture and veterinary science. Each seminar aims to provide an overview of an area of research in a manner accessible to all staff, graduate researchers, students and the general public.
