Colors of Bali: Up Close with Mask Artist

What type of wood is suitable for topeng (mask) material? How is its process of coloring? Why are certain colors used symbolically in topeng?

Various questions in topeng making process would be discussed with the senior mask artist from Singapadu, Cok Raka Sedana or usually known as Cok Alit on Saturday, 11 December 2021 at 2.00 PM WITA. He will share about the details of Balinese mask making and dance gestures in this session.

CushCush Gallery presents Colors of Bali (COB), an exhibition of the research and exploration on the development of natural dyes and pigments used traditionally in 6 Balinese crafts. This program is co-funded by CushCush Gallery and the Australian Government through the Australian Consulate-General Bali, and the Alumni Grant Scheme that is administered by Australia Awards in Indonesia.
