Australia Awards Scholars in a Roundtable Discussion with NSW Government

As part of the 2018 NSW Government Australia Awards Seminar Series, scholars from Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines and Mongolia met with NSW Department of Industry representatives in a roundtable discussion in May 2018 at the Department of Industry in Sydney.

Representatives included Guy Boekenstein (Senior Manager ASEAN) who provided an overview of the trade position between NSW and ASEAN, Nicola Kelly (Manager Export Development) who spoke on key sectors exporting to ASEAN and Michael Fay (NSW Chair Australia Indonesia Business Council) who spoke on the importance of education exports and linkages with ASEAN.

A lively discussion ensued involving a range of perspectives from the countries represented amongst the Australia Awards Scholars, including barriers to Australian investment within ASEAN and opportunities for future investment.

The NSW Government Australia Awards Seminar Series now in its second year, provides monthly seminars and site visits to scholars providing an insight into State Government priorities and issues involved in their implementation.  Australia Awards in Indonesia coordinates the program with the NSW Department of Industry (through Study NSW) as part of On Award Enrichment activities of offer to scholars.  The Seminar Series concludes in August 2018 with an Acknowledgement Ceremony at the Parliament of NSW.
