Join Our Panel Discussion on “Developing Smart City in the New Capital of Indonesia: Sharing Knowledge and Experiences from Australian Perspectives”

What can Australian perspectives bring to the table when it comes to developing a smart city in the new capital of Indonesia? Join our panel discussion on 9 May at 2:00 Jakarta time and gain insight regarding the topic from numerous experts. The discussion will feature Prof Mark Cassidy, Dr Ova Candra Dewi, and Dr Eka Permanasari, moderated by Prof Frank Vetere, with a keynote speech by Dr Mia Amalia. This event will be held hybrid, with the in-person meeting session in Westin Hotel, Jakarta.

In January 2022, Indonesia's Parliament passed the Capital City Bill into law, meaning constructing the country's new capital can begin. The new capital city is named Nusantara in East Kalimantan and is partly to relieve pressure on traffic-clogged Jakarta, which is sinking, polluted and crowded. The Government reiterated that the new capital city would be built under a smart city concept that is sustainable and resilient.

Australia faced a similar situation in early 1900. Canberra is chosen as the centre of politics, while the economy is centred in other big cities like Sydney and Melbourne. As examined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and other government data linked to 90 indicators, Canberra is Australia's leading smart city.

The e-certificate for participation is available. If you are interested in attending this event, RSVP by 7 May at this link. Click here for more information.
