Gig on the Green Makassar 2025: Celebrating Music, Stories, and Togetherness

What an amazing night! On 3 May 2025, the Australian Consulate-General in Makassar hosted its first ‘Gig on the Green.’ This vibrant event celebrated music, culture, and food to welcome home recently returned graduates from Australia and bring together the Australian alumni community in Indonesia.

Hosted by the MC duo Aida Gunawan and Rahmat Hidayat, the event featured outstanding performances by Australian Indigenous musician, Ngulmiya, and rising Indonesian star, DVY.

The 2025 ‘Gig on the Green’ in Makassar was more than just an evening of entertainment. With immersive experiences like a 360-degree video booth, face painting, and delicious bites from alumni-owned stalls, the event highlighted the strength of the Australian alumni community and the lasting Australia–Indonesia connections.

Food and beverage highlights included selections from alumni vendors such as Koppi, Fireflies, Meat Emporium, Marble Meats, and Doktor Kue. A sincere thank you to these vendors for making the evening both delicious and memorable.

We’d also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, including G-Swing Golf Range, Sulo Skincare, Marble Meats, Fireflies, Doktor Kue, and RS Siloam Makassar, for their generous support.

This mini music festival offered a unique opportunity to reconnect, build new friendships, and strengthen the people-to-people links that are at the heart of the Australia–Indonesia bilateral relationship.
