Join the upcoming AAI Masterclass Session: Team Photo-Diaries: Research and Data Skills for Interdisciplinary Social and Environmental Research Collaboration, delivered by Dr Ariane Utomo on Thursday, 20 August 2026, from 2.00 PM – 4.00 PM (WIB).

As research becomes increasingly collaborative and interdisciplinary, researchers need practical approaches to navigate complex questions of ethics, power and collaboration across diverse teams. This session features Dr Ariane Utomo, Associate Professor in Demography at The University of Melbourne, who will draw on her experience leading a household census with smallholder farmers in Northwest Cambodia during the COVID-19 pandemic to demonstrate how team photo-diaries evolved from a training exercise into a valuable tool for reflexive research, richer data interpretation and cross-border collaboration. Through practical examples and visual storytelling, participants will gain insights into conducting more inclusive, ethical and impactful interdisciplinary research.
