Project Location:
Activity Type: Training, workshop or seminar
Sector: Health Services, Public Health, Education and Training
Project Rationale:
The provinces of Papua and West Papua where we have socialised the project in four districts have experienced significant success in treatment. The Puzzle Compliance with TB project is still very much needed in other districts where the success rate of treatment is still low and the Lost to Follow Up (LFU) cases are still high, due to non-compliance with treatment, and the presence of drug resistance. The remoteness of the region, cultural customs, low level of education, low quality environmental sanitation and low income of the community create an environment for easy transmission of TB.
Data shows that in 2020, Papua and Papua Barat Province had 8,879 TB cases. This indicates that Papua Province and West Papua Province are still significant contributors to the number of TB cases in Indonesia. In Papua Province, 1,156 cases of TB treated or 13.02% of all cases, were Lost to Follow Up.
