Australia Awards Post-Course Workshop on Sustainable Tourism Management

It was truly inspiring to witness the collaboration among heads of tourist attractions, heritage sites, and geoparks; owners and managers of tourism operators/companies; heads of tourism polytechnics; central, provincial, and local government representatives; and representatives of tourism associations at a recent post-course workshop organised as part of the Australia Awards Short Course on Sustainable Tourism Management.

Held at the Prime Plaza Sanur Hotel in Bali from 20-22 February, this event provided a platform for course participants to showcase their projects, share success stories and challenges, and suggest inventive concepts to coordinate investments for sustainable tourism, attract high-value tourism post-COVID-19, and coordinate multi-level governance in tourism management.

Throughout the post-course workshop, participants actively engaged in a range of activities, including presenting their projects and participating in an Alumni Sharing Session featuring esteemed Australian alumnus Agung Suryawan Wiranatha, the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Tourism at Udayana University. Moreover, participants seized the opportunity to explore the breathtaking Batu Lumbang Mangroves, a 7.4-hectare area of mangrove forest nestled within Ngurah Rai National Park.

These workshop participants had previously attended the two-week course in Australia at Griffith University in October 2023. Heartfelt congratulations on completing the course successfully, signifying their esteemed status as Australia Awards alumni! Our warmest wishes accompany them as they venture into forthcoming endeavours.
