How to Apply
WHO CAN APPLY TO BE AN ILLA HOST?
- Any institutions (schools, universities, or language institutions) based in Australia;
- Institutions with a strong interest in the Indonesian language and culture;
- Institutions that are eager to provide a supportive environment for an ambassador’s cultural and educational exchange.
WHO CAN APPLY TO BE AN ILLA AMBASSADOR?
ILLA is intended for Australian Government scholarship recipients from Indonesia who:
- Currently study in Australia at a PhD or Master’s level;
- Residing in Australia for the duration of ILLA
- Are not in their first semester;
- Hold a sound academic record;
- Are passionate about cross-cultural exchanges, community, and classroom teaching practices; and
- Are able to provide diverse perspectives, enthusiasm, energy and hold a willingness to foster global citizenship and intercultural capacity-building in the classroom.
Past ambassadors are welcome to re-apply.

- Expression of Interest period for ILLA Host Institutions: 29 September – 26 October 2025
- Application for ILLA ambassadors: 29 September – 26 October 2025
- Matching Process: Mid-November 2025
- Matching Outcomes Announced: December 2025
- Orientation Process: Jan – Feb 2026
- Expected ILLA Program Start Date: March 2026
