AYO ANGON: Skills for Future Livestock Farmers

Project Rationale:
Poverty and income inequality are the main problems for Yogyakarta Province. The poverty rate in the province has reached 13.1% or the highest in Java. The figure of 13.1% in 2016 was for 488,830 people. The poverty line standard referred to by Statistics Indonesia (BPS) only uses a standard income of IDR 360,169 per capita per month. Poverty occurs in many rural areas where the average work is farming. Low land ownership (below 300 m2) is one of the causes of low farmer income. Buyutan Sub-Village, Ngalang Village, Gedangsari Sub-District is the poorest Sub-Village in Gunungkidul District. Many villagers don't have skills because their education level is low (most of them only graduated from basic school). In addition, many young people are unemployed. This condition causes poverty to occur continuously. The COVID-19 pandemic has been worsening the poverty issue. This project aims to improve young people's skills, build their capacity in livestock production, and increase incomes.
