Behind the High Cases of Stunting NTT, in Parenting with a Gender Perspective

Project leader: Mrs Theresia Sarlyn Ralo

Level of education and university: Master, The University of Melbourne

Collaborating Organisations: -

Project Location: Nusa Tenggara Timur

Activity Type: Research & Development and innovation

Sector: -

Project Rationale:

This project is very important because there is currently no specific policy regarding stunting interventions in terms of parenting that includes local socio cultural values of NTT. So far the intervention is downstream or on a curative aspect. For example, providing additional food for malnourished children. While socio culltural barriers, especially in terms of gender perspective have not been a concern.

The project will help solve the problem in a way the results of this data analysis will be used as recommendations to leaders to make policies to accelerate stunting reduction in NTT. This policy focuses on aspects of parenting or upstream aspects of handling stunting.

This policy will be implemented through various government programs and related stakeholders, so that the convergence action to accelerate stunting is carried out comprehensively by all components of society. Thus the target for NTT in 2024 of stunting prevalence of 12% can be achieved.
